Sept. 24th   …   The Bonnett Pond Church will celebrate its 69th Homecoming.  Former Pastor, the Reverend Corbin Hicks will be preaching the homecoming morning service at 11:00 A.M. and Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m.  Lunch will be served following the morning services. Everyone is invited to join the congregation in with celebration, with a special invitation to those having attended Bonnett Pond in earlier years. The church is located at 2680 Bonnett Pond Rd.


Sept. 25th   …   The Washington County Tourist Development Council will hold its regularly scheduled workshop and meeting at the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. The workshop will begin at 4 p.m. followed directly by the meeting. All meetings are open to the general public.


Sept. 25th   …   A meeting for Chipley High School Class of 2018 Project Graduation will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the CHS library for all senior students and parents. This will be a “working session” to prepare for upcoming events and activities. Participation from all who can attend is needed and greatly appreciated.

Sept. 26th   …  Chipley Kiwanis Club meets at Noon at Pattillo’s on the campus of Florida Panhandle Technical College.


Sept. 26th   …   From 4 to 6 p.m. there will be an Open House featuring the 4-H program at the Vernon Library.


Sept. 28th   …   Holmes County Chamber of Commerce Luncheon at Noon at the Chamber office in Bonifay.


Sept. 28th   …   Chipley City Council will hold a Public Hearing on the Final Millage & Budget Adoption at 5:05 p.m.

Oct. 4th   …   Calling all Baby Bees for a fun-filled hour of stories, music, sing-a-longs and activities at the Chipley Library at 10 a.m.  Open to children up to two years of age.

Oct. 5th   …   The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will be performing at the J.S Performing Arts Center in Enterprise, Alabama at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets will be $30.00 at the door.


Oct.  5th   …   The St. George Lighthouse will host a full moon climb from 7-8:30 p.m. Climb to the top of the Cape St. George Light to watch the sunset and the rise of the full moon. The Sunset/Full Moon Climb includes light hors-d’oeuvres and a sparkling cider toast to the full moon. Cost is $15 for the general public and $10 for members of the St. George Lighthouse Association.


Oct. 6th   …   You are invited to stop by the Senior Enrichment Open House at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  This event is for senior citizens.  There will be refreshments and door prize.  RSVP to Shawna at 850-415-7207


Oct. 6th-8th   …   The fall version of the Apalachicola Paddlejam festival will be held in Apalachicola and on St. George Island. This three-day festival celebrates the Forgotten Coast through paddle sports, music and food. The highlight of the event will be an attempt by paddlers to break the world record for the largest floating kayak raft. New this fall will be a paddling fishing tournament.


Oct. 6th-8th   …   ApalachOktoberfest 2017 will be a three-day celebration of great live music and tasty Oyster City Brewing Company beer on Columbus Day Weekend. Friday, October 6th will see the tapping of the keg at Bowery Station followed by a performance by the Jerry Thigpen Trio with special guest Del Suggs. Saturday, the music and drinking continue as we welcome Dirty Bird & the Flu, Well Worn Soles, and the Bo Spring Band to the stage at Bowery Station. Then, Sunday, the celebration continues at a street party in front of the OCBC brewery.


Oct. 7th   …  Vernon Middle School Beta Club will hold a HUGE Family Yard Sale from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the VMS front parking lot at 3190 Moss Hill Road in Vernon.   This yard sale helps students raise funds to attend the National Junior Beta Club State Convention in Orlando this November.


Oct. 7th   …   St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Hwy 90 in Chipley, will host a Fall Festival from 10 a.m. until 2 .m.  Open to children of all ages.  There will be games, crafts, lunch and Bible lessons.

Oct. 6th – 7th  …   Northwest Florida Championship Rodeo Parade at 1 p.m. in downtown Bonifay.

Oct. 21st   …   The Crooked River Lighthouse will host the 2017 Lantern Fest on from 6-10 pm in Carrabelle Beach. Ancient tales, glowing lanterns, music, food and nighttime tower climbs, bring magic & history together! This year’s event will also feature the glow-in-the-dark dancers from Tallahassee Community College (TCC) and the Irish band Killavil.



Oct. 20th-22nd   …  Panhandle Players presents Murder at the Gibson Inn: An Oyster City Mystery, an original play written and directed by Royce Rolstad, III.


The play will open the Apalachicola community theatre’s 2017-2018 season and make its world debut at the Chapman Auditorium in Apalachicola, October 20, 21 at 7:30 pm, and October 22 at 3:00 pm.

Oct. 28th   …   The Autos and Oysters Car Show in Apalachicola will be held on Water Street from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.   Admission is free and open to the public. The Cars will be judged by a team headed by J.C. O’Steen of Tallahassee. Awards will be given for the Top 50, Best of Show, Club Participation, Greatest Distance Travelled, and Sponsor’s Choice. Awards will be presented at 4:00 p.m. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at noon. The cost to enter your car is $20.


Oct. 28th   …   Sunland Fall Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sunland’s Environmental Park in Jackson County.  This event will feature a parade, arts, crafts, and entertainment which will continue throughout the day on three stages located throughout the park.







Oct. 29th   …   St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Marianna will host classical saxophonist Katherine Weintruab and accompanist Deloise Lima at 4 p.m.   A ‘Meet the Artists’ reception will follow the performance.  Childcare will be provided from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.  Donations will be accepted for the Fine Arts Series.  For information, call 850-482-2431.

Nov. 4th-5th   …   The 54th Annual Florida Seafood Festival kicks off in Apalachicola. Heralded as the State’s oldest maritime event, this annual fall classic is a celebration of the Franklin County commercial seafood industry. The Florida Seafood Festival promises to feature delicious seafood, arts and crafts exhibits, seafood related events and musical entertainment including recording artist Jerrod Niemann.
