October 25th   …    Landmark Park Quilt Show at Landmark Park in Dothan, Alabama.  Over 100 antique and modern quilts on display in the Stokes Activity Barn. Juried show and exhibit, with sewing related vendors. Held in conjunction with Wiregrass Heritage Festival.

 

October 25   …  Rock Hill Church will host a Trunk or Treat starting a 5 p.m.  There will be hay rides, games and food.  All kids are welcome and are asked to dress up.

 

October 25th   …   Sunny Hills Community Church will be holding its Fall Super Saturday today.  Start your day with a pancake breakfast ($3.50 for adults; kids 12 and under eat free). Their  outreach center will be open with Christmas items for sale, plus the clothes closet with LOTS of free clothes. The fun starts at 10:00 with a classic / special interest car display, a fire engine, the Washington County Explorers, plus a bounce house for the kids. Enjoy a grilled lunch with bratwurst, sausage and peppers, hot dogs, BBQ pork, plus all the fixings. Bring your friends, your family, your appetite and your old car! 3768 Country Club. October 25th   …   Join the Pregnancy Support Center at the DeFuniak Springs Lakeyard for the Bubbles for Babies Walk for Life. Registration will be in front of the Chautauqua Building. Warm-up at 7:15 am and the walk will begin at 7:30 am. Pre-registration packets can be picked up at the Pregnancy Support Center located on Hwy 90 W Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 8 am-2 pm. Everyone is invited.

 

October 25th   …    Wiregrass Heritage Festival at Landmark Park in Dothan, Alabama.  Learn how peanuts were harvested in the Wiregrass Region a half-century ago. Enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of cane grinding, syrup making, butter churning, basket weaving, soap making, and other traditional farm activities. Also, plenty of music and a wide variety of antique gas and steam engines will be on display. Adults, $8; senior citizens, $6; children, $4; members, free.

 

October 27th   …   Vernon Council meets at 7 p.m.

 

October 28th   …  Chipley Kiwanis Club meets at Noon.

 

October 28th   …  Washington County Council on  Aging Board of Directors meet at the Chipley Office.

 

October 30th   …   Florida Panhandle Technical College, located at 757 Hoyt Street  in Chipley,  will host ‘Candy & Careers’ from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the campus.  There will be games, prizes and candy.  Visit the campus and fnd out about their Career Programs.  Bring the whole family!  There will be something for everyone.

 

October 30th   …   Vernon Trick or Treat from 5 – 7 p.m.

 

October 31st   …   Chipley Hellfighters will host a Bikers Breakfast at the clubhouse at 7 a.m.

 

October 31st    ….  Trick or Treating in Wausau from 5 – 7 p.m.  The Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a haunted house.

 

November 2014

November 1st   …    Chipley Hellfighters will hold a Harvest Ride starting at 9 a.m. at the clubhouse.

November 1st   …  New Prospect Baptist Church will host a Fall Festival beginning at 3 p.m.  The church is located at 61 New Prospect Road, 3 miles east off Hwy 90 in Chipley.  There will be boiled peanuts, bingo, cake walk, jumping house, along with hayrides for young and old.

 

November 1st   …   Saint Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Chipley invites the community to a southern gospel sing featuring the Gospeltones  from 2 to 5 pm.

 

November 1st   …   Truck or Treat will be held from 4-7 p.m. at Pal’s Park in Chipley.

 

  November 1st   …   The Walton County Sheriff’s Office Jail Break Zombie Run will be held  at the Walton County Sheriff’s Office located on Triple G Road north of DeFun. Registration and packet pickup will begin at 7 am. The race will begin at 8 am. Registration for runners is $35 and $25 for Zombies. Proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. November 6th   …   Public Hearing on the Washington County Future Land Use Map at 5 p.m. at the County Annex on South Boulevard in Chipley.

 

November 7th   …   Washington County Historical Society meets at Noon for a covered-dish dinner at the Museum in Chipley.

 

November 8th    ….     Lassos & Hairbows from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ag Center in Chipley.  Early entry at 7:30 a.m. with 5 canned goods.  A food drive will continue throughout the day.

 

November 8th   …   Free gently used coats will be given out from 10 a.m. until Noon at Grace Assembly @ Chipley,  567 Main Street.

November 13th   …   The Washington County Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Council invites you to attend the fifth and final Economic Development Symposium.  The Symposium will be held at the Panhandle Area Education Consortium (PAEC) at 753 West Blvd. in Chipley  from 6 pm to 8 pm.   Topics will include plans for the future of Economic Development in Washington County and discussion of the $2.8 million the Board of County Commission has set aside for Economic Development within Washington County.   Seating is limited, so please call 850.638.4157 to reserve your seat early.
