The Florida Forest Service Appoints Mike Mathis as the Chipola Forestry Center Manager …….

The Florida Forest Service is pleased to announce the appointment of John “Mike” Mathis as the new Center Manager of the Chipola Forestry Center effective October 6, 2017.

Mike began his career with the Florida Forest Service in June of 2007. During his ten years of service with the agency, he has held the positions of County Forester, Region 1 CFA Coordinator, and Operations Administrator in the Chipola Forestry Center. Prior to starting his FFS career, Mike worked for six years with a private forestry consulting firm and for four years as the owner/operator of his own forestry consulting operation.

Mike is a 1995 graduate of the University of Georgia where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Resources (Timber Management). In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Michele and their three boys: Walker (age 15), Will (12) and Joe (7). Mike and his family reside in Panama City Beach.
