Patriotism Endures In Northwest Florida

Whether you stand at attention, hand over heart, for the National Anthem, or take a knee in protest, you can thank all those who have given, and all for which America stands, for that right and privilege.

What’s much more important than perceived disrespect is that we not lose sight of the fact that nowhere else in the world would we have this unalienable right to express ourselves, and if some choose to pick different battles than others, at the end of the day, we reap what we sow.

Now, ‘reaping what you sow’ is an example of capitalism at its finest- for it’s ‘no work, no eat’ in most countries, but we choose to feed those who cannot, or will not, carry their weight here in the United States.

The old term ‘root hog or die’ conveyed the essence of the Darwin theory, in that those who chose to shun the honor of hard work simply ceased to exist, but things are different today.

Things are different, to say the least, with challenges everywhere we look, and it appears that those with the most to lose, interestingly, choose to complain and protest the most, but not many of them are skinny from missing a meal.

Boys can be girls and girls can be boys, those too sorry to work are fed, and yes, some can choose to say ‘thanks’ for all of this by burning the flag, kneeling during the anthem or shunning the very country responsible for their lifestyle- whatever lifestyle they choose- and all this was furnished by those whose blood defended this flag.

At the end of the day, regardless of your ‘feelings’, remember that we enjoy all the rights and privileges made possible only by those who came before us, and all those around us.

So please take the time to thank a soldier, salute the flag, and pay homage to this great country- or don’t- it’s your choice.  God bless America.
