Commissioners led off Tuesday’s meeting with a Public Hearing on extending the moratorium for Medical Marijuana, but no one was present to speak on the issue and later in the meeting the Board voted to extend the moratorium.

The BOCC had voted Jan. 2, 2017 to establish a temporary moratorium on growing, cultivating, processing, manufacturing, dispensing, distributing and wholesaling or retailing medical cannabis, low-thc cannabis, and derivative products, or any related products or activities.

In other action, commissioners told Commissioner Tray Hawkins to continue his research into forming an insurance consortium to lower insurance costs for county employees.  Board members agreed this could be a way to lower costs and see a viable way to see savings.
