Local Award-Winning Bluegrass Musician Rick Kent Records in Chipley, Florida- Part 7

Just coming off his 2017 win of the North American Country Music Association’s International Male Vocal and Instrumental Bluegrass Artist of the Year awards, Rick Kent recently spent time in the ‘Studio B’- audio production facility on the campus of Florida Panhandle Technical College- and here is his recording of ‘Rick’s Tune’

Born and raised in Chipley, Florida, Rick started playing guitar at the age of six, and he has also become proficient at the mandolin, fiddle and banjo.  Adapting a cross-picking style similar to that of mandolin  master Jesse McReynolds, Kent emulates the old masters of Country and Bluegrass.

Kent became a member of the Alabama Music Association in 2016 and received their  Horizon Award, and also served for 15 years as an interpreter with the hearing impaired.

Since winning his most recent award this down-to-earth entertainer  says he  has spent time rubbing elbows with a lot of well known entertainers and being interviewed by all genre of the media.
