‘Little Miss and Mister Pageant’ Kicks Off the 48th Annual Wausau Possum Festival on Saturday, July 29, 2017

Occurring on the first Saturday in August each year, the Wausau Possum Festival in Wausau, Florida celebrates the history, heritage and culture of this part of rural Northwest Florida.

On Saturday, July 29, 2017, the event kicks off with the ‘Little Miss and Mister’ Pageant, this year featuring a ‘Denim and Plaid’ theme, at 6PM in the Wausau Possum Palace in Wausau, as seen in these photos from past event by Real Florida Media, a subsidiary of The Goulding Agency in Chipley, Florida..

Open to young ladies and gentlemen from birth to 18 years of age, the event highlights some of the beauty in our region, with contestants traveling from several states to compete in the prestigious event.

On Friday, August 4, 20917, the Festival continues as the ‘Wausau Possum King & Queen Contest’ takes place at 7PM in the Possum Palace, an opportunity to experience all the reasons that Women’s Day Magazine declared the Wausau Possum Festival ‘One of the Eight Most Unique Festivals in the World’.

On the first Saturday in August, this year August 5, the perennial date for the Wausau Possum Festival, the full-blown festival occurs, swelling the population from 400 to tens of thousands of people, all filling this small rural town to experience the unique offerings,  including the Possum Parade, Possum Auction, all-day entertainment including County, Bluegrass and Gospel music, food, great people-watching and much more.
