Council members took the following action:

  • Approved working with J.D. Owens Carpet Company on putting carpet tiles down at City Hall.
  • Approved having the Town work with Washington County concerning code enforcement issues and possibly adopting the County’s litter law.
  •  Removed from the table, for the time being, discussion of hiring a part-time maintenance person.
  •  Removed from the table discussion of a batting cage at the Possum Palace and fencing at the ball field.
  •   Announced they were still waiting on a revision to the Fire Ordinance from the Town’s Attorney Jeff Goodman.
  •   Directed Town Clerk Margaret Riley to proceed with getting a camper on 6th Avenue removed from its current location.    Councilman Dewayne Carter said the vehicle appears to be straddling two properties and neither of the property owners says their own the unit.  Wausau Mayor Roger Hagan said he just wants to see the property cleaned up and kept that way.
  •   Announced that the Splash Pad is on order, but isn’t  expected to be installed after Fun Day.
  •   Set a Budget Workshop for 5:00 p.m. on Aug. 10th, with the August Regular Council Meeting to start at 6 p.m.
  •   Were informed by Councilman Dewayne Carter that he is working with Dothan Overhead Doors on cost estimates for replacement doors for the Possum Palace.  He noted that the existing doors are obsolete and cannot be repaired.
