Wausau’s Town Council received a report from maintenance director Jimbo Oglesby at Thursday night’s meeting which reflected problems being faced by other governmental entities   …   inmate work crews just aren’t available to communities on a regular basis.  However,  Oglesby said the Town of Wausau is proceeding with maintenance work needed around the town and he thanked the town’s elected officials for pitching in and helping where they can.

Council members also addressed the following agenda items:

  •  Approved payment of Town bills, including FRDAP bills and other grant-related bills.
  •  Approved Fire Department minutes and training records.
  •  Approved minutes of May 2017 Council meeting.
  •  Approved reconciled bank statements.
  •  Heard from Rec Committee representative that committee members are looking into a Flag Football program for the youth of the community.
  •  Announced they are waiting on a draft fire ordinance revision from their attorney.
  •  Reviewed a carpet recommendation from Ken Owens, who said carpet tiles would be his best suggestion.  “They are very durable, easily cleaned, do not ravel and are low maintenance,” wrote Owens.  Additionally, Owens said those tiles can be easily changed out if they are damaged.  He also mentioned using loop carpet or vinyl tiles.
