Chipley Code Enforcement Board gives property owner another 30 days to clean up ……….

Meeting for the first time since last October,  Chipley’s Code Enforcement Board voted 4-0 Thursday to give property owner Sean McLaughlin, 1425 South Boulevard, an additional 30 days to finish cleaning  up his property.

The Board members reviewed the City’s case file on the property which extended over several months and was told McLaughlin had done some of the needed clean up.  However, the property owner said he is disabled and had been sick since the code enforcement issues were  raised.  Additionally,  McLaughlin said he has been in and out of the hospital and just hasn’t been able to accomplish all of the required work.

McLaughlin stated that he feels city officials are harassing him and   said he had fully complied with earlier requests from the City’s then code enforcement officer, but also pointed out that he felt there were other properties in worse condition then his.

In final action the Chipley Code Enforcement Board voted to grant the 30 day extension; however at the end of the 30 days a $50 a day fine could be imposed.
