Washington County School Board recognizes retirees and others ……..

Meeting in regular session Monday night the Washington County School Board took time to recognize a number of students for their achievement, as well as several retiring educators.

School Board members led off the meeting recognizing Ms. Yhonsetta Diane Stephenson who  worked at the Florida Panhandle Technical College prior to her death.   A number of her co-workers were on hand to honor her work at the college.

 

Another retiree recognized at the meeting was Ms. Jan Johnson who is retiring from Okeechobee Youth Development Center.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                       Ms. Chelsea Carter congratulated students Ashten from the        Mackenzie Thompson and Dillon Williams gave a SWAT update.

Jeremy Thomason was awarded a scholarship through the             Madylyn    was recognized as AMVETS essay contest winner.

Board members also handled the following agenda items:

  • Approved renewal of Chartwell’s  food service contract 2017-18.  Chartwell personnel agreed to attend school board meeting at least quarterly.
  • Approved the stadium lighting project for Chipley High School and Vernon High School.   Funding for the projects will come primarily from the BP Oil Settlement.  CHS project ($134,826.36)   and for the VHS project ($116,733.84).
  •  Approved a purchase order in the amount of $21,005.97 to Century Link for the new Shoretel Telephone System at Vernon Middle School.
  •  Set  an End of the Year Special Board meeting on June 29 at 4 p.m.
  •  Set a Budget Workshop for July 10 at 3:30 p.m.
