Chipley Kiwanis Club pays tribute to area educators ……….

Principals from Washington County public schools were guests of the Chipley Kiwanis Club on Tuesday as club members recognized Teacher Appreciation Week.  Representing the various local schools were:

  •   Vernon Elementary School   … Steve Griffin
  •   Vernon Middle School   …   Kim Register
  •   Vernon High School   …   Brian Riviere
  •   Kate Smith Elementary School   …  Leesa Burdeshaw
  •   Roulhac Middle School   …   Nancy Holley
  •   Chipley High School   …   Kyle Newsome
  •   Florida Panhandle Technical College   …   Martha Compton

Club members also sent gifts to all of the teachers at each of the schools.

Along with acknowledging the educators for all they do to prepare young people for their roles in later life,  Kiwanian LaMerle Feitsma  presented check to  Zedra Hawkins representing the Washington County’s Public Library System for their summer children’s program.

Club members work hard to raise funds given to a number of programs reaching out to children and it was noted that this year the club has given more than just the funds they raised.  Part of the motto of the club is “Changing the world one child and one community at a time.”

Shown at the left, the club also presented a check to Tanya Taylor,  Florida Panhandle Technical College.  Those funds will be used to send a SKILLS student to National competition.
