Bonifay, Florida’s ‘Down Home Street Festival’ Slated For Saturday, March 18

The 2016 event was cancelled due to weather, and the 2017 event was slow to gain support or traction, but this weekend the small rural community of Bonifay, Florida will pay homage to its roots and heritage at the 9th Annual ‘Down Home Street Festival’, as seen in these photos from ‘Real Florida Magazine’.

The staff of ‘Real Florida Magazine’ chronicled some of the past ‘Down Home’ events, most notably the 2013 event which featured iconic actor Sonny Shroyer, who played the character ‘Enos’ on The Dukes of Hazzard for several seasons.

Shroyer helped emcee the event, aided by WMBB Chief Forecaster Jerry Tabatt, all the while graciously signing autographs and working the crowd, as the ‘Black Eyes Pea’ queens and contestants served up  this ubiquitous vegetable accompanied by cornbread and sweet tea.

This Bonifay event, with activities running from 9AM to 2PM along Veterans Blvd. next to Memorial Field in Bonifay, is an authentic celebration of the history, heritage and values of Homes County, Florida and a must-see for some world-class people-watching.
