The Early Learning Coalition of Northwest Florida was the topic of discussion as this week’s meeting of the Chipley Kiwanis Club. Club members were brought up to date about what the agency provides in the local area and the upcoming Art-Kid-Doo event being hosted by the ELCNWF in April.
Susan Gage, representing the agency, was the guest speaker at the meeting and invited club members and local groups to become involved in the upcoming event that introduces children ages 2 -12 to art projects.
Held at Shiver’s Park in Chipley, the event allows the children to participate in a variety of art projects – from drawing, to working with clay and creating pictures with water-colors.
Touching on the objectives of the Early Learning Coalition, Gage said the agency is currently serving 180 children in Washington County with a waiting list of another 69 eligible for their services. She said placement from the eligible list is not a capacity issue, but a funding issue.
