Chipley Kiwanis Club President Michelle Jordan announced Tuesday the local club is welcoming new members and urged current members to invite potential members to the club’s Jan. 3rd meeting.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world – one child and one community at a time.
Kiwanis clubs and members undertake nearly 150,000 service projects each year, contributing more than $100 million dollars and six million volunteer service hours to communities.
So far in the 2016-2017 business year the Chipley Kiwanis Club has hosted two fundraisers and Jordan said Tuesday both events were well supported by the Washington County community and surrounding area.
At this week’s meeting club members began planning for the service projects that will be held during the remainder of the business year – events supported by the club, but not fundraisers for the local Kiwanis club, the biggest of which is the July Watermelon Festival held in Chipley.
