Church personnel said the Thanksgiving tradition started over 15 years ago when members of the First Presbyterian Church served 25 meals to people in need. That number grew to 100 very quickly and the 2016 event topped the 200 mark.
Since the program’s origination First Presbyterian volunteers have been joined by members from Shiloh Baptist Church and others from around the community wanting to help all Washington County residents enjoy the day with a great deal to be thankful for.
