Chipley’s City Council voted last week to approve their FY 2016/17 administration contract with the Chipley Redevelopment Agency that requires the CRA to pay the Washington County Chamber of Commerce $2,075 a month. Under the agreement the Chamber provides staff and administrative services to continue implementation of the Community Redevelopment Plan which has previously been adopted by the City.
The purpose of the agency is to improve slum or blighted areas and for rehabilitation and redevelopment of areas within the City in the interest of public health, safety, morals and welfare of the residents in the CRA designated areas – shown below.
Council members also approved the following items:
- Loan to purchase a 2017 International Dump Truck for the Street Department at a cost of$83,575.
- Resolution No. 17-02 between the City and Florida Department of Transportation in the amount of $446,189 for the 5th Street Resurfacing & Drainage Improvements Phase II, with a completion date on or before April 30, 2018.
- An agreement between the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and the City in the amount of $25,000 for a CRA Community Redevelopment Plan.
- Special Event Application for the Chipley Christmas Fest set for Dec. 2nd.
