Those attending described the new school as “awesome”.

by Kathy Foster

Members of the Washington County Historical Society were the latest getting a guided tour of the soon-to-be-finished elementary school.

School Superintendent Joy Taylor and School Board Chairman Milton Brown led the group through the school and answered questions dealing with the various elements of the facility.

Taylor assured the visitors the school campus will have tight security with cameras inside the building, as well as overlooking  the grounds as soon as you enter the campus.

Both Taylor and Brown were pleased to report that already other school districts are implementing plans like those used  for Washington County’s newest school.  Brown noted,  “It means we’re doing something right.”

Ribbon cutting for Kate M. Smith Elementary School will be held August 1st at 10 a.m. and the public is encouraged to attend.
