Letter to the Editor from the Chipley Christmas Fest Committee ….

LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

The Chipley Christmas Fest Committee would like to thank our Presenting Sponsor Tobacco Free Florida and Event Sponsors Community South Credit Union, Metric Engineering, Gulf Power, Northwest Florida Community Hospital, Lane’s Outdoor Equipment, Chipley Garden Club, Capital City Bank, Chipley Woman’s Club, Sunshine Riding Trails, OneSouth Bank and Wells Fargo for helping to make this event happen. We would like to also thank our Media Partners Foster Folly News, The Radio People and Washington County News for helping to promote our event as well as the Washington County Arts Council, Amy Justice Photography, the Washington County Historical Society and Sand Hills Santa for getting it all put together.

We would like to take this time to explain why there were no carriage rides at the festival. This was supposed to be a big highlight for the festival and we were saddened that the rides did not happen. Our vendor called us at 1pm the day of the festival to cancel because her father was suffering from congestive heart failure and the prognosis was not positive. As she had not cancelled an event in 25 years, she was very upset to have to do this but the situation called for it. We tried to find another horse and carriage vendor, going as far as Tuscaloosa, AL. Unfortunately, no one could arrive within the time constraints. We apologize for the disappointment but it could not be avoided.

We thank everyone who participated in the Chipley Christmas Fest activities this year. The Chipley Christmas Fest Committee will meet again in February 2016 to begin planning for next year’s event. We encourage anyone interested in joining the committee to email chipleychristmasfest@gmail.com about your willingness to participate. We also encourage you to email any comments you have regarding this year’s event. Let’s all make 2016 Chipley Christmas Fest and Parade an even bigger success!
