Literacy Volunteers benefit from book drive hosted by the Generation Club ….

June 6th members of the Generation Club based in southwestern Washington County presented a collection of books to Washington County Literacy Volunteers for use with those learning to read.

2013June5KathysCamera 014A reception was hosted by the City of Vernon to recognize the efforts of the club members in supporting the book drive.

The club is a part of the Florida Association for Home and Community Education (FAHCE), a state-wide volunteer organization affiliated with the University of Florida/IFAS Extension Service.

The group meets the third Tuesday of every month. Meetings begin at 10 a.m. and are held at the Hinson’s Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department, 5487 Douglas Ferry Road – a location convenient to both Vernon and Bonifay, as well as their surrounding communities.

Each month the members strive to complete a community service project or activity that directly impacts the local communities.
