Two dead and seven injured in Walton County crash – CORRECTION by FHP

Shortly before noon Saturday, two Ohio 21-year-olds were killed in a two vehicle crash on Hwy 90 in Walton County.  The Florida Highway Patrol reports that seven others from Ohio and Oklahoma received injuries in the crash.

In the initial report the driver of a  2000 Dodge, was identified as  21-year-0ld Brittney S. Gallagher of Whilloughby, Ohio; however, the driver is now identified as Courtney L. Miller of Niles, Ohio.  Both women were traveling in the front seat of the car.  The vehicle was traveling westbound on State Road 20 and a 2006 Dodge pickup was traveling eastbound on the highway.

According to witnesses, the 2000 Dodge drifted across the center line into the eastbound lane and traveled directly into the path of the eastbound traffic.  Gallagher veered aggressively back into the westbound lane and then a second steering correction caused the vehicle to begin to rotate counter clockwise, while traveling in a southwesterly direction.  The 2000 Dodge crossed the center line for a second time and traveled directly into the path of the Dodge pickup.  The front of  car right front collided into the second car’s left front within the eastbound lane of State Road 20.
