Obit for Dessie Bell

Dessie “Mawmaw” Bell In living our life here on earth serving the Lord, our greatest reward is to pass from this life into life eternal. Dessie “Mawmaw” Bell, 87, of Port St. Joe, FL went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. She was born on May 24, 1925 in Holmes County to the late G. Walker and Mattie E. Padgett. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe. FL. She will be best remembered by the love, devotion, hugs, and sweet smiles that she shared with her family and friends.


1968279She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Lonnie B. Bell, and her brothers Randall and Donnie Padgett.


She is survived by her brother Carlton Padgett of Ponce De Leon and her sister, Wilma Neel of Carrabelle; her daughter Barbara (John) Presnell of Port St. Joe, her sons Bobby (Bonnie) Bell of Port St. Joe and Lonnie B. Bell, Jr., of Panama City; 9 grandchildren, Keith (fiance’ Cathy) Presnell, Shannon Presnell, Mark Presnell, Barbara Jean “BJ” Harris, Marsha (Chris) Adkins, Stacy (John) McGonagil, Lonnie B. “Trey” Bell, III, Jennifer Bell and Josh Bell; 7 great grandchildren, Lane Adkins, Sydney Adkins, Lonnie B. “LB” Bell, IV, Cole Bell, Arcel Rico, Jordan Bell, and Zach Bell. She is also survived by her loving niece, Janice (Jim) Porter of Pensacola, a cousin and special friend Mildred Owens of Port St. Joe, loved ones Brenda Bell and Erica Bell, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews who were very special to her.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM (eastern time) at the First Baptist Church of Port St Joe with Brother James “Buddy” Caswell officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Prosperity, FL At Mawmaw’s request, her grandsons will be serving as pallbearers and the Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Curry, Dr. Ortega, and Dr. Rifai for the love and care they have shown to her through the years and to the staff at Sacred Heart Bay Medical Center MICU and A & A Home Health Care.
