Last Friday Deputies with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office received a tip of illegal drug activity at a residence in the Poplar Springs community. When Deputies arrived, they observed a van in the driveway. Deputies made contact with the driver of the van, 33-year-old Melissa Hayes of Bonifay. They received consent from Hayes to search the vehicle and located a small amount of methamphetamine in her purse. Hayes was placed under arrest for possession of methamphetamine.
Also Friday, Deputies received another call of illegal drug activity at a residence in the Hickory Hill community. When Deputies arrived at the residence, they made contact with 38-year-old Lorraine Renee Kilzer of Westville. Deputies located several used syringes with methamphetamine residue. Kilzer, who is currently under the supervision of the Florida Department of Corrections, was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Monday a Holmes County Deputy conducted a traffic stop in the Gritney community for a registration violation. The driver of the vehicle, 38-year-old Donnie Ray Calhoun, did not have a valid driver’s license. During a subsequent search, a small amount of methamphetamine and a glass pipe with burnt residue were located on his person. Calhoun was placed under arrest for driving while license suspended, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Holmes County Sheriff Tim Brown says the community’s involvement in fighting the war on drugs is essential.
